Lake Tahoe is
massive. Some 22 miles long by 12 wide, you could put the Isle of
Wight into it and have plenty of room to spare. The lake strides the
California / Nevada border, which enables legal gambling on the
eastern half. It is famous for the crystal clear water, that shines
and shimmers in the sun. |

Redwoods can be
found alongside the Lake. You can see the Moon on the left at the top
of the tree! |

To obtain this
picture we drove miles up a long and winding track, through forest
and along sheer drops on both sides. Our guide book told us it was
the best view of the Lake, normally visited by locals. It was a good
view, but the effort and time taken made it a dubious venture on our part! |

We stayed at the
Best Western Hotel at South Lake Tahoe. Throughout our trip we mainly
stayed in Best Westerns and found them very good quality and value
for money. At Tahoe our room had French windows right onto a patio
which was on the sandy beach. Definitely the best hotel room view on
Lake Tahoe! |
