YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK

We drove down from Lake Tahoe, past Mono Lake, and into Yosemite. As you take the Tiagra Pass into Yosemite you come to Ellery Lake. The road from there to Yosemite Village is long and takes much more time than you expect!

Yosemite is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the USA.

El Capitan rock is side one of the road - see next picture for the other side!

With water falls cascading from the cliffs.

How beautiful is this place? Lush Meadows with towering cliffs.

And the river, with the towering Half Dome rock behind.

At Bridal Veil Falls the dry river bed shows huge rocks carried down the river by the force of powerful flood waters.

The Bridal Veil falls in September are nearly dry, but still a plume of water cascades over the top of the falls.

The overview of Yosemite, from the Fresno Road out of the Park. We then made our way to Bass Lake, where we stayed for two nights. On the way there a large brown bear crossed the road in front of us. We stopped and watched him climb up the bank and into the trees. We tried to get the cameras out to take pictures but the results were not good enough to prove our sighting!
